**States of Matter Sort Activity**

Use this hands-on sorting activity to give students practice recognizing solids, liquids, and gases. There are 8 different photographs of each state of matter in 3 different sizes. Pictures of gases show a use or source of the gas, for example, a picture of a car exhaust for carbon monoxide. Larger cards can be used for groups while the smaller cards can be used individually. You can use the differentiated sorting sheet to have younger students sort between just solids and liquids.
